FROM THE FLOWING STREAM TO GUARDIANS OF THE BEYOND
As the studio filled with fired clays, derived from female models for the Podflow series, work also continued on other fronts, both figurative and not.
The largest of the Beacons, Beacon of Split Desires, was completed for ROCK ON at the Canadian Scultpure Centre in 2011 and stone carving continued with Gazer Sentinel the following year. The first of the Stream Gazers and the three-part Headwork- Ben Triad, were also executed and exhibited in 2012.
However, the greatest concentration was on the completion of Stream and Podflow works for the solo exhibition, STREAM, in the spring of 2014, also at the Canadian Sculpture Centre.
Podstreams are about consciousness and reverence for our condition and place in space; they are monuments to our female origins and our portal of existence. The pods, as the matter of life, evolve and manifest into the female forms that bespeak our origins and stand as metaphor to our home in the cosmos. Streams, derived from the serpent path of consciousness and liberation, ebb and flow through the pods as they enter and exit the figures – they are the pulsations of life and rhythm of energy. They also allude to the shank of time, to the sperm of creation, and the potential for life.
The motif continued in the fall with the Memory Streams and a return to the symbolic tower. This time, the towers rotated and morphed in and out as the streams wove their way in and over the structures suggesting the vagaries of memory, emotion, and time.
For MASS APPEAL, also in the fall of 2014, recycled metal was welded together to fashion the very tall, Ascent of the Guards. Pathways and the meandering stream again exist in these works; in both, the upward journey must traverse through several obstacles, detours, and obstructions before reaching out into endless space.

In early 2018 I was commissioned to prepare designs for a five metre tall bronze monument on the exterior grounds of a new building project in Sri Lanka. I chose to create actual models in wax.
Designed on vertical axis, the Transverticals encompass change, transfer points, and metamorphosis. Built in springtime they celebrate growth, while standing as sentinels of the environment. As they developed, soft organic form became strengthened with architectonic structure and deliberate edges – flowing movement was retained.
The four models, although developed simutaneously, are very different in approach and design.
  
Conceived as an interpretation of tree growth, a double helix spirals about a stout core and manifests into a full canopy of transitional forms and controlled architectonic inter-action.

Begun as a floral blosssoming, the work transformed into a joyful and celebratory dance of life – the growth pattern now swirls rythmically as it closes the circle of creation.

This thorny tower began as bare branch transit points that developed into crystallized transfer stations. The wrench-like apex positions two opposing values against each other, referencing the dual nature of all life.

The only Transvertical to metamorphise into abstract figuration again began by channeling a stately tree. The branches became geometrical, the attitude protective and welcoming, the outlook to the beyond.
